Is this just how it works or is there something I can do to avoid having to remake the physics settings from scratch each time I need to edit a map?Īny and all answers are appreciated, and I'm not just looking to Khas to answer them, since he is pretty clear his time is more focused on new projects than RPG VX Ace - so I'm looking to anyone with familiarity with the Arc Engine or scripting in general. I am sure it is successfully saving the information, though, because when I test play it I can see that the impassible/passible tiles I marked and stairs are working just fine. Use one of the other animation frames or a unique animation frame for jumping, instead of the standing still one - while still being able to use the standing still frame when the player character is not moving.Īlso noticed that whenever I load the map in the physics editor, even if I have edited and saved the map before, it loads it with the entire map marked as impassible (denoted by the red overlay for tiles) regardless of what it was saved to before. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to alter the script or use events to do the following:ĭisable/reanable jumping, groundpound, wallkick, dashing using game events Have a character be able to walk left and right, climb up and down ladders or ropes, with simple gravity - being able to fall off edges, climb up/and down to platforms that are one block higher or lower than the character, thanks for the reply - it's a powerful script, regardless of my troubles with the UI, and I can definitely use it for another project I have in mind if I end up not being able to use it for. But I could live with just being able to do very basic movement, as with an RPGMaker game called LISA. I was impressed with its capabilities, but actually want to disable some of them, at least at the beginning - I didn't even need a wallkick, ground pound, or other complicated mechanics, or even the extent to which it allows jumping, though I could definitely use them as acquired abilities for the PC to allow for more variety in exploration puzzles. I'm open to using another, simpler engine - while this will be an rpg, not an action game or a true platform at all, the world will be explored in 2d platform style. The Ice and Water options seem to be unusable - the PDF documentation provided with it is minimal, at best, and just says these are "disabled." The code suggests that there is functionality behind them, and I was trying to find a way to alter the script so that they were not disabled. When I use it in the small screen, I have to click options multiple times, in exactly the right pixel, it seems, to be able to get them to respond at all, which makes it painful to use. Hey, I'd really love to use this engine, but am having severe trouble with the interface.įor one, I cannot get the mouse to appear on ARC editor when it's in fullscreen, making me unable to get past the step where you enter a MAP ID for use with the Physics editor - the "Okay" and cancel buttons do not seem to respond to the keyboard at all, unlike the four options on the mains screen.
